Do aftermarket electronics void my vehicle warranty?

No. The federal Magnuson-Moss Warranty Act protects consumers from having their factory warranty denied simply because aftermarket equipment was installed. The Lab uses OEM-safe wiring practices, T-harness connections, and factory-compatible integration methods that preserve your vehicle's original electrical system. A dealer cannot void your warranty unless they can prove the aftermarket installation directly caused the specific failure in question.

Do you install customer-supplied equipment?

Yes. The Lab installs customer-supplied head units, speakers, amplifiers, subwoofers, dashcams, lighting, and other electronics. We still strongly recommend purchasing through us as this can expedite warranties and ensure a seamless process. Our standard labor rates apply, and our lifetime workmanship warranty still covers the quality of our installation regardless of where you purchased your gear.

Are your installers certified?

Are laser jammers legal in New York?

Yes. There is no federal or New York State law that prohibits laser defense systems. While federal law bans radar jamming devices, laser (LIDAR) jammers are a separate category and remain legal in the majority of U.S. states, including New York. The Lab carries AL Priority and Stinger VIP — the two highest-rated laser defense platforms in the world.

Most drivers accept poor audio because they assume the infotainment screen in their dashboard dictates the quality of the sound. This assumption allows manufacturers to cut corners where you cannot see them. A factory amplifier might claim 400 watts on the window sticker. That rating often represents peak power at massive distortion levels, rather than continuous RMS power.

The physical speakers installed on the assembly line are equally flawed. They rely on plastic baskets and paper diaphragms that flex under pressure, this is actually common on Lamborghini’s and other high-end vehicles. When a bass note hits, these lightweight cones distort. To prevent warranty claims, factory radios use dynamic equalization. As you increase the volume knob, the radio automatically reduces bass output. You hear the vocals get louder, but the low-end punch disappears entirely. Fixing this requires more than dropping new speakers into the factory locations. It demands a complete redesign of the audio signal path.

Building a proper sound stage requires matching specific components to the acoustic layout of your vehicle. We design audio systems ranging from straightforward stereo replacements to fully active, DSP-controlled sound stages. Every component must complement the rest of the chain.

The source unit dictates the quality of the signal sent through your entire system. Replacing a dated factory radio instantly removes original equipment equalization limits and provides pristine audio output. For vehicles where the climate controls and vehicle settings are integrated into the factory screen, removal is more difficult.. We solve this by retaining your factory radio and using advanced integration modules to extract a flat, full-range audio signal before it reaches the stock amplifier. This method allows you to keep every original vehicle feature while feeding a pure digital signal to your aftermarket amplifiers. Aftermarket upgrades are also available, albeit often more advanced than your traditional options.

Weak speakers bottleneck even the best amplification. We discard stock paper drivers and install rigid, high-performance replacements built from materials like Kevlar, treated silk, and cast aluminum. For rear-fill audio, we install coaxial speakers that mount the tweeter directly in the center of the mid-bass driver.

The front stage requires a different approach. We deploy component speaker systems, separating the tweeter from the woofer. By mounting the mid-bass driver low in the door and the tweeter high on the A-pillar or dashboard, we raise the acoustic stage to eye level. This configuration makes the music sound like a live performance happening across your hood, rather than noise firing at your ankles. Active crossover networks ensure each speaker only receives the exact frequencies it was physically designed to play, preventing distortion and protecting the hardware.

Clean volume requires headroom. Factory stereos produce roughly ten to fifteen watts of continuous power per channel. Pushing a low-power source to its limit causes a clipped audio signal, which introduces severe distortion and physically damages speaker voice coils.

We finish these enclosures in factory-matched carpet or vinyl to maintain a clean aesthetic.

Ten years ago, a 12v audio upgrade required little more than a wiring harness adapter and some electrical tape. Modern vehicles are mobile computer networks. Audio signals route through the CAN bus system, warning chimes play through the door speakers, and active noise cancellation microphones interfere with aftermarket bass frequencies.

We navigate these complexities daily. Instead of fighting the vehicle computer, we use Digital Signal Processors and specialized line-out converters to control the environment. A DSP accepts the distorted, heavily equalized factory signal and flattens it out completely. We then use a calibrated microphone to measure the acoustic response inside your exact vehicle.

By adjusting the time alignment within the DSP software, we can delay the signal reaching the speaker closest to you by a fraction of a millisecond. The sound from the left door and the right door hits your ears simultaneously, creating a focused, three-dimensional audio image sitting dead center on the dash. We apply precise equalization adjustments across multiple bands to smooth out harsh acoustic reflections caused by glass windshields and leather seats.
